The surrounding area

Beautiful beaches, stunning cliffs, pretty villages and quaint hamlets all make up Cornwall’s unspoilt Roseland Peninsula. It’s here you’ll find our charming Veryan Club campsite just off the Roseland Heritage Coast. The South West Coast Path is a mile and a half from site and the great beaches of Veryan - Carne Beach, Pendower Beach with East and West Portholland Beaches just a little further.

The mild climate in and around the Roseland Peninsula means plants flourish here. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project, and the National Trust’s wonderful Trelissick Garden are testament to this.

Head to St Mawes, south of the campsite. From this pretty fishing village, catch the ferry to the seaside town of Falmouth. As well as great beaches, Falmouth offers the National Maritime Museum of Cornwal and Pendennis Castle.

I will be eternally grateful to the site staff for keeping us on the field because I wasnt far off scrapping the tent and going home! Arrived to a horrendous storm and 50mph winds which obliterated our tent. And the staff were absolutely fantastic! And so patient with us too! Got us back up and running, dried our wet bedding. I cant begin to explain how much that meant to us as newbies! Im sure theyll be grateful were leaving! Facilities are great! Showers are hot, there are plenty of cubicles to go round. Kids enjoyed the tv room while it was raining. Playing field is massive! Lake is beautiful. Washer and dryer are good and not too expensive. Play area is safe and good quality. Site is tidy and well presented. Bit far to a supermarket (20 mins) but there is a spar 5 min drive away.

What a stunning site.

This review is for Veryan

What a stunning site. On arrival, having checked in, we were taken through a map/guide for the area very thoroughly by Andrew who pointed out all the dog-friendly beaches, pubs and other places of interest. He showed us to two pitches and gave us a choice - we picked one that gave us 50/50 sun/shade all day. The toilets/showers were well-maintained and checked meticulously numerous times every day. There are only 2 showers in the ladies' toilets but there's an additional 4 showers further around the block. One note of caution - the water temperatures are volcanic! This is apparently to ward off any risk of legionella. The dog-walk is a working hay field and we were told this because it had just been cut when we arrived. The walk itself is around the perimeter, and is a very good walk. The only drawback was that with the heat, flies were a nuisance. We didn't have any need for the TV or recreation rooms but they were as well-maintained as the rest of the site, although the table tennis table was vandalised while we were there and had to be removed, which was obviously very disappointing for the wardens. The lake was very pretty and also useful for walking the dog around (although the path on one side is quite narrow so a short lead required). Locally we visited Portscatho and St Mawes, and Pendower Beach but with the heat we didn't venture out far in the day. We had plenty of space and it was nice that the large field wasn't overcrowded - this may of course be different at peak times. The pizza van was expensive but very nice, and the chip van was also very nice and reasonably priced with generous portions. We didn't use the shop but I think it's a given that with a captive market it's going to be more expensive than a supermarket. **Just one request - a light bollard near the bottom four grass pitches (96/97 and the neighbouring ones) would be useful as there were none really close by for that late night loo break!! Will definitely be back.
