A lively site popular with families with older children and nightbirds

With many static units as well as tourers, it boasts one of the best pool complexes in the area. La Loubine is well located for enjoying one of the most popular parts of the Vendée. Many people walk or cycle to the nearest sandy beach, Plage de Sauveterre, while Les Sables d’Olonne, home of the world famous Vendée Globe yacht race, is just a short drive away. If you’re an early riser, a trip to Les Sables’ market hall is a great shopping experience. Early booking is advised for the school summer holiday period, with the second halves of July and August being the best bets for availability.

The pool is superb and the kids (12 & 14) loved it. The staff in the shop were lovely and there was lots to do in the area. The nightly entertainment was loud and could be heard throughout the campsite until about midnight. Most of the site consisted of mobile homes rented by French people (very few pitches) so the entertainment was geared towards French audiences. However the karaoke included popular songs in several languages. The snack bar near the pool undercooked my food and the person serving extracted my partially eaten cheeseburger from the bun, put it back on the skillet then put it back in the bun. So not sure about the hygiene. We wouldn't go back to this site because, although we usually look for some entertainment, the noise level so late every night was just too much.

We arrived at la Loubine for the 2nd week of our Touring holiday in France.

This review is for La Loubine

We arrived at la Loubine for the 2nd week of our Touring holiday in France. The 1st destination in Southern Brittany was idyllic and provided an amazing family holiday. We arrived at La Loubine and our immediate first impression was that this site was not going to be the same. The pool was very crowded, the pitches very hard with dry spiky grass and the roots of the trees around made the pitch very uneven. The trees provided good shade, but within an hour of arriving we had all been bitten badly. In the evening the entertainment is extremely loud as goes on very late ensuring that anybody touring/camping are unable to relax. The night we arrived there was Karaoke that could only be louder if I had sat with my head inside the speaker it was coming from! We paid 300 Euros in advance to stay for a week at this site and only stayed for 1 night knowing that our 2 week break would be ruined if we had. We returned to our first destination the next day. I am not quite sure how this site has got a 4 star rating.

The area has numerous attractions. It is only approximately 1Km from a massive beach. The beach at Les Sables d'Olonne is worth a visit. Within the area there are canoe trips on the salt water canals which are well worth a try. For cyclists the area has more than enough to offer, unless you are looking for massive hills. Shopping facilities are well worth a visit with markets and supermarkets within easy reach 3 - 4 miles. The area is great for families and couples.
