Nunnington Park Farm Campsite near Wiveliscombe in Somerset has been crowned Best Certificated Site (CS) for 2024, as voted by members of The Camping and Caravanning Club.

The annual awards celebrate the best small sites across the UK that are open exclusively to Club members, ranging from Best CS for Families to Best CS for a Friendly Club Welcome.

Certificated Sites can accommodate up to five caravans or motorhomes plus ten tents at any one time. They offer a more unique and often intimate camping experience, from back-to-basics through to quirky stays on working farms and smallholdings.

Alison Habberfield, who owns Nunnington Park Farm Campsite jointly with her husband and son, said:

“I am a third-generation farmer and I work the land and run the campsite with help from my husband and younger son.”

“We have been operating the campsite for 11 years and have seen a lot of changes in that time - from the boom of the pandemic to welcoming repeat customers year after year.”

“Nunnington gets a lot of repeat guests and people booking on recommendation which is lovely, and I enjoy taking the time to meet people when they arrive and being on hand to give advice on local walks and cycle routes.”

“We pride ourselves on our facilities as they are integral to our guest experience – to also win the Best CS for Facilities award this year really is the cherry on top.”

“My husband and I caravan ourselves and took our own children on camping holidays when they were younger, often locally in Devon or Somerset. It really is a fabulous way to get out and about. Come and visit us next time you are in the area!”

Nunnington Park Farm Campsite is one mile from the brewery town of Wiveliscombe and within a half an hour drive of the market town of Taunton. Other attractions nearby include Dunster Castle and the Quantock Hills National Landscape.

Club members who have stayed on the campsite have left a string of five-star reviews, including: “The facilities are excellent. It’s so peaceful and full of wildlife. We stayed here when we first bought our motorhome and used it as our training ground. Been back several times now and it never lets us down. Alison, the hostess, is so welcoming and pleasant. I would definitely recommend this site.”

The site boasts two vending machines selling local produce, one stocking beer, cider, honey and logs for the on-site fire pits and another with ice cream and home-produced meat.

Darren Whittington, the Club’s Deputy Director General, said: “Nunnington Park Farm Campsite Certificated Site is incredibly popular with our members, and it is a worthy winner in our Best Certificated Site competition for 2024.”

“Alison has created a superb campsite and considers the needs of her customers – and our members – before anything else. The number of repeat bookers she welcomes year after year demonstrates the winning formula she has created here.”
