The National Outdoor Expo 2026

If your idea of the perfect weekend involves pitching a tent under a starry sky, waking to dew-fresh grass and enjoying the simple pleasure of life outdoors, then the National Outdoor Expo at the NEC Birmingham on 21–22 March 2026 is just the place for you. This isn’t just another outdoor event, it’s a two-day celebration of everything that makes camping, caravanning and exploring the natural world so rewarding.

The Expo brings together a vibrant community of adventurers, families, weekend roamers and experienced campers who all share a love of the incredible outdoors. With over 200 exhibitors across camping, caravanning, outdoor gear, apparel, tech and travel, it’s the perfect opportunity to update your kit, discover new brands or find clever solutions that make life on the road - or under canvas - even more enjoyable. From tents and awnings to compact stoves, portable furniture and innovative accessories, you’ll find inspiration around every corner.

What's on at the expo?

A major highlight of the weekend is the Outdoor Kitchen, where cooking demonstrations offer fresh ideas for campsite meals, from easy one-pan wonders to clever gourmet options for caravanners. The Bushcraft Zone gives you the chance to learn practical skills such as fire lighting, navigation and outdoor safety.

A crowd of people sit under a large yellow canopy watching a woodworking demonstration, as a craftsman carves wood using traditional hand tools.

The Outdoor Stage features a packed programme of talks from well-known adventurers, conservationists, outdoor experts and TV personalities. They’ll share stories from their expeditions, discuss their favourite kit and offer practical advice for anyone looking to spend more time outside. With speakers including Steve Backshall, Ben Fogle, Spencer Matthews, Molly Thompson-Smith and Russ Cook (aka The Hardest Geezer), the weekend promises a wealth of insight and inspiration. Each talk celebrates exploration and respect for the environment, reminding us all of the incredible diversity of life right on our doorstep. After their talks, many speakers will be available for photos, autographs and informal conversations.

A group of people paddle brightly coloured kayaks along a river.

Families will feel right at home too. With children under 16 attending for free alongside a paying adult, the Expo is an affordable day out and a great way to spark younger campers’ interest in nature, wildlife and adventure. The show is designed to be interactive and engaging, with hands-on activities including indoor climbing, paddle-boarding on the NEC lake, open-water swimming and outdoor cooking workshops.

Many exhibitors champion eco-friendly materials, low-impact design and responsible outdoor travel. Whether you’re looking to minimise your footprint on a touring trip or make greener choices for your next family camping holiday, you’ll find expert advice and environmentally minded options throughout the show.

The Expo runs from 9am to 5pm on both days, giving you plenty of time to explore, learn and enjoy the atmosphere. While tickets can be purchased on the door, pre-booking is recommended for smoother entry and to secure availability.
