One of England’s last working slate mines, Honister has something to offer all visitors.

Go underground on a mine tour

This is a great activity for the whole family, whatever the weather. You’ll be led by an expert guide deep into the tunnels which have been mined for 400 years. After putting your hard hats on, you’ll take a short bus ride up the mountain where you’ll get to enjoy views of Honister Pass before entering the mine. You’ll learn all about Honister’s history and uncover the reality of what life was like for those working in the mine.

Climb the mine

Looking for a little more adventure? This experience will have you climbing cavern walls, crossing rope bridges and zip lining.

The infinity bridge

Suspended 1,000ft above sea level, the award-winning Infinity Bridge at Honister gives you incredible views of the surrounding Lake District.

Via Ferrata

Experience the thrill of climbing but in a safe and fully guided experience with the Via Ferrata Classic. For an extra adrenaline boost, the Via Ferrata Xtreme is a more daring version with a sky ladder, overhand descents and more.
