What do Peaky Blinders, Antiques Roadshow, the Disney TV series Evermoor and the Club all have in common? The answer is Arley Hall in Cheshire – where all the aforementioned television programmes have been filmed – and the venue for this year’s National Feast of Lanterns (NFOL) from 23 to 27 August. Arley Hall is one of the most notable and recognisable stately homes in the North West of England and stands on the same site as the original hall, which was built in 1469. The present building was built in 1845 and overlooks stunning gardens and beautifully landscaped park. The hall and gardens themselves are a very worthwhile visitor attraction and one you will be able to see up close by camping at NFOL – alongside a raft of entertainment including the usual performance from the Club band. But if you’re looking for a longer break and want to take in other local attractions before or after NFOL, you might wonder where to start. We’ve compiled a few of the best things to see and do in the area to help you plan a great summer break.
