Jaguar’s XE represents an important part of the company's line-up, plugging a gap in the compact executive segment made by the withdrawal of the X-Type in 2009. It represents Jaguar’s eagerness to have a broader market appeal and the compact executive is one place the brand needs to be. However, the competition in this market is stiff, possibly as stiff as Jaguar claims the new bodyshell to be.
