Volvo is doing more than most manufacturers to move rapidly towards an all-electric future. It has pledged that 50 per cent of the cars it sells will be battery-powered by 2025. As a stepping stone, it’s adding ‘electrified’ versions of existing cars, such as the XC60 five-seat SUV tested here. A diesel engine still does most of the work, but it’s assisted by a mild hybrid system.
