As a go-to brand for professional adventurers, Terra Nova is used to raising its game. With a core consumer as tough as the equipment it makes, the company has to stay a step ahead. Terra Nova Director Andy Utting explained: “We’re pushing the boundaries of what you can do with materials – that’s what leads our design. As an example, back in the early ’90s we produced a tent that retailed at about £600. Since then, owing to its time in the marketplace and ability of other manufacturers to create similar items, it’s now down to £200 in our Wild Country range – kit suited to more general everyday use. Had we not done all that research in the first place, this tent, now far more affordable, would never have existed.”
