It’s not that many years ago that full awnings were commonplace on the campsite, with a variety of poled models around. Today, you are far more likely to see a lightweight porch or inflatable-tube system attached to a caravan as they are easier to pitch and take down. However, the full awning still gives you more space as it attaches all the way around the caravan’s awning rail. This gives a better all-round connection to the ’van, reducing drafts. It’s also generally more capable of standing up to our variable weather. The Garda by Dorema is an example of this type of awning, built with all-season use in mind. The one I looked at has 25mm-diameter steel poles, though other pole options are available. The awning fabric is TenCate All Season outer and inner. It’s available in charcoal/light grey (as seen here) or blue/light grey.
