Discovery is Tow Car Awards champ
The Land Rover Discovery 3.0 Td6 HSE has been crowned overall winner of the 2017 Tow Car Awards.
The Discovery was announced as overall winner at an annual awards evening at Woburn Abbey, Buckinghamshire and emerged from a field of more than 40 other vehicles after a week of thorough testing by expert judges.
Tow Car Awards Chief Judge, David Motton, said the car “set a new benchmark” as an all-round tow car. He said: “Even against such strong competition, the Land Rover Discovery fully deserves its title. Towing with it is more straightforward than ever thanks to clever technology such as the optional Advanced Tow system, and the car drives comfortably, is practical and roomy and has great re-sale value. We think it’s the best new tow car you can buy.”
The Discovery was the heavyweight category winner. It was joined by other weight category winners the Jaguar F-Pace, Jaguar XF, Skoda Superb and Skoda Octavia.
Other winners in this year’s awards included the Hyundai i30 as Best Ultralight Tow Car, the Suzuki SX 4S-Cross as Best Budget 4x4, the Audi A4 Allroad as Best Petrol Tow Car, the Ford S-Max as Best MPV, the Volkswagen Amarok as Best Pick-Up and the Volvo XC90 as Best Hybrid.
As always, the Club teamed up with What Car? and Practical Caravan magazine to run the Tow Car Awards, with support from Swift Group and AL-KO. A team of volunteers from the Club ensured the week-long testing period ran smoothly, while judges tested the cars for their towing ability, practicality, stability and solo driving.
