Club’s new SiteSeeker campsite book launched
The Club has published its biennial campsite book and given it a big revamp including a new name.
The guide is now called SiteSeeker 2017-2018: The Big Sites Book for Members of The Camping and Caravanning Club to bring it in line with the Club’s campsite website section and app of the same name.
Additional enhancements have also been made to the book following extensive research and discussions with senior Voluntary Officers at the Club.
Editor-in-Chief Simon McGrath said: “There are more than 2,600 campsites listed in the new SiteSeeker book and our changes will make it easier for members to find their perfect pitch.
“It was the right time to give the Club’s book a new structure and it will mean even more members can take advantage of this comprehensive guide to camping around the UK.”
One of the most noticeable changes has been to alter the way the book is structured to make it easier for members to locate a campsite within the book. It was previously done using an OS map sheet system. However that has changed to a region and then county-based listing for Certificated Sites (CSs) and Independent Listed Sites (ILSs).
To help members find their chosen campsite within the book, a standalone fold-out map has been reintroduced. In addition, each campsite listing will contain a grid reference for the Club map plus an OS map reference. A new numbering system has also been introduced to make it easier to find a CS.
Other updates include changes to the way CSs and ILSs list pitch prices. Instead of letters, these will now be published as a ‘from and to’ price.
Online members will not receive a printed edition but can view all the updated site information on the Club’s website and via the SiteSeeker app. Alternatively, the printed edition can be bought for £10 from the Membership Department by calling 024 7647 5442.
