Campers can pitch their tents at iconic locations this summer and break out the popcorn to watch movie classics in the great outdoors.
Be king of the disco at Dalemain Mansion, fend off zombies in Hamsterley Forest or dance with Jake and Elwood Blues at Muncaster Castle during a season of classic films being shown at venues across the North of England, as part of the Picnic Cinema programme.
The unique movie experience brings together beautiful locations, movie classics, including Saturday Night Fever, The Evil Dead, and The Blues Brothers, and camping on-site. Well-behaved dogs can even come along too at many of the venues.
Patrons are encouraged to get into the spirit of the film by dressing up and joining the party before the film begins at nightfall. After the film there is music and dancing, for those camping at the venues. If you decide to stay at one of the Club Sites listed below, make sure you return before the site barriers are shut at 11pm.
The movies available are:
- July 11 Trainspotting (18) at Kirklinton Hall, near Carlisle (Haltwhistle Club Site)
- July 18 The Evil Dead (18) at Hamsterley Forest, near Bishop Auckland, Co Durham (Barnard Castle Club Site)
- July 31 The Shining (18) at Leighton Hall, near Lancaster
- Aug 4 Grease (PG) at Lytham Hall, Lytham, Lancashire
- Aug 5 Moulin Rouge (12A) at Lytham Hall, Lytham, Lancashire
- Aug 14 The Blues Bothers (15) at Muncaster Castle, Cumbria (Ravenglass Club Site)

Picnic Cinema is organised by Eden Arts. Ticket sales raise funds for Remote, a touring cinema bringing films to rural villages.
