From some of the very first caravans produced in the early 1920s, micro caravans have always been around. They were generally 8ft long and produced for the small car market, which back then had limited engine power. Eccles were the true pioneers of the micro tourers with small collapsible models – even caravans that could also be towed behind a motorbike and sidecar. Makers such as Raven had the appropriately named Baby model. By the late 1920s a growing number of these small caravan manufacturers were making small caravans.
