A beautiful location, Keswick campsite is great for active campers.

If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations. The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond.

Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.

For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness.

Worth Noting

Due to the possibility of Site flooding all units must have a tow vehicle on site overnight. There may be restrictions on pitch availability and use of awnings. If you have more than one car or are visiting the site you may be asked to park off-site.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a farmers' market in Keswick on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Do not go to this site. I need to get in first. I have just stayed four nights this April and we Love it all. Driving in and seeing the site, Derwent Lake and the Mountains all around you is Great. So we have booked for our two week summer holiday as well. Our Dog Molly Loved it also. Here you are near all you need for a great holiday. The managers and staff on site are very friendly and helpful. Keep it going Sue.I hope to come here many times in the future. Book it.

Located a short walk from Keswick town with a multitude of restaurants, shops etc. Level pitches beautifully kept. Toilets and showers were excellent, always clean and well maintained. Small shop and lots of info on site. We will be back.

Turned up to a queue of guests backed up in the road to check in, due to the odd system of checking in. One at a time pulling up to the barrier, to then go and check in. Then back to vehicle to be let in and shown to pitch.after a seven hour journey to get there it was a bit frustrating, but gladly things got better, lovely site, in a fantastic position right on Derwentwater, and just a few minutes to the supermarket (posh!) bus stops and the lovely town of Keswick. Will definitely be back. Lovely quiet site.

When we booked in we had forgotten our membership card, but nevertheless had a long standing reservation. We were joining a group already there and they told us that pitch L15 was vacant as we have a long unit. Asked receptionist if we could have that pitch and told no, with attitude, as a longer vehicle had already booked the pitch and was arriving very shortly. Less than an hour later a sub-5mtr motorhome parked up on the extra long pitch and remained there all the time we were there. I personally find that type of service deplorable. It was clear that the receptionist was annoyed with me, despite me being very polite, but clearly she had decided to "exercise her authority". This was our first experience of a Club site, despite being a member for a couple of years, but it will be a long time before I use another, if this is the attitude we can expect.
