Delamere is fast becoming our second home due to frequent family visits.

This review is for Delamere Forest

Delamere is fast becoming our second home due to frequent family visits. Each time we come we are greeted warmly by Jim, Brenda, Paul and Karen, This time as it was the summer holidays the site was very busy putting a stretch on the toilet block but it was kept very clean in spite of. As others have said the road can be noisy but the surroundings more than make up for it. We took the train to Chester this time and at 10.20 for 2 returns it was good value (only 1 train per hour) and we had a few hours in the city with a river trip to enjoy and a walk around the walls as well. As we prefer a shaded site we try and get a pitch on the "way out" on the one way system, otherwise the field pitches are in sun most of the time. As to the hardstanding pitches, they are massive - by far the largest HS club pitches we have encountered. This time we had newts under our awning groundsheet, as well as frogs (toads?) and the usual rabbits and suirrels Our neighbour across the way put up a birdfeeder for the time that they were there and I have never seen so many different birds in one place. Thanks for everything guys and we'll see in September!!

This was our first stay at this site but it is now on our favourites list. Excellent reception by wardens made us feel very welcome. Well spaced pitch with no feeling of being cramped in. Plenty of water points. Well maintained and tidy grounds. All facilities were spotless. Site is in Delamere Forest with direct access to many forest footpaths. Very dog friendly.
