This review is for Delamere Forest

This is our 3rd visit to Delamere and won't be our last. Jim and Brenda and new HSA's Paul and Karen were welcoming and accomodating as we had to keep extending our stay for family reasons. The site is a lovely setting backing on to the woods of the forest The only downside to this is the noisy birds dawn chorus at 5 o'clock! The facilities are spotless and the shop has a few basics with a local shop just up the road. There are fantastic walks in the forest with a visitors centre and cafe and also a cafe at the adjacent railway station (trains to Chester 30mins or Manchester 1 hour plus) There were rabbits and squirrels galore as well as all the birds so plenty to see. It is nearby to Oulton Park racing track and also Cotebrook Farm Shire horse centre and also Beeston Castle (English Heritage) which are all worth visiting.

This was my third visit in the last 6months and again I wasn't disappointed. I was met with the usual friendly welcome from Manager Jim, who again remembered me as I walked through the door! We discussed which pitch was best as my brother and his wife were arriving in their Campervan the following day. The usual high standards of cleanliness were maintained, a great site. Also the fish and chip van visits every Friday teatime, it was very popular. If you love walking in forests, around lakes, squirrels, birds singing including cuckoos, stonechats and nuthatches, then this is the site for you. The train, just a 3minute walk away, takes only 16mins to get to Chester, and it's a quiet train so doesn't disturb campers on site. Many thanks to the staff for being so friendly, helpful, and your hard work is much appreciated.

We stayed after a period of very wet weather and as had booked on a grass pitch the staff were very helpful in putting us in the best place possible, which meant that our wheels of the van were on a footpath. We were very grateful as the grass was absolutely sodden! From the outset there were smiles and help and throughout the weekend staff were on hand to help and assist in any way. We had problems one evening with electricity. A neighbour reported it and within minutes a staff member was down on his bike with an extension lead to take our cable to another electric point. The site is very well placed with probably one of the best dog walking areas we have yet encountered. Through a gate and into the forest. Brilliant! There is lots to see and do and we will come back to explore the area further. The shop only has a few basics but there was a local shop a mile down the road that had almost everything and seemed to be open all hours. Toilets and showers were spotless! We would really recommend a stay, Thank you to all the team
