Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday of the month in Chipping Norton. Several farm shops in the area sell locally grown fruit and vegetables.

Close to Lido for great outdoor swimming.

This review is for Chipping Norton

Close to Lido for great outdoor swimming. Lots of local pubs and restaurants, cafs and tearooms. Easy access to other pretty Cotswold villages. The Cotswold Wildlife Park is well worth a visit. A perfect location for exploring the beautiful Cotswold region. We highly recommend this site and will certainly be going back.

We had a warm welcome to this site.

This review is for Chipping Norton

We had a warm welcome to this site. The staff are friendly and put themselves out for their guests. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the facilities are kept clean and tidy to the best of the staff's abilities considering the age of the facilities. In particular, the CDP is situated in a open wooden shelter with pitches around it, which must be unpleasant for campers who find themselves located there. The washing up area is in a covered, but open shelter and the showers/toilets are in need of updating. Most worrying, the back gate to the woodland walk opens on to a very busy road. The gate post is missing and the gate cannot be secured. There were families camping within metres of the gate and pre-school age children playing in front of the gate - this needs fixing urgently before there is an accident. Despite all of this, the site is pleasant and ideally located for visits to Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water etc. Other reviewers have mentioned the road noise - we were located on a pitch near the road and could certainly hear it fairly late into the evening. having said that, it did not overly disturb me or keep me awake.

This is my second stay at Chipping Norton as a solo camper.

This review is for Chipping Norton

This is my second stay at Chipping Norton as a solo camper. The site feels safe and secure - wardens are lovely, taking the time to explain how/where to pitch, access to facilities etc. Toilets and showers are very clean (and warm on chilly evenings). If you enjoy country walking - this is a great base. Definitely recommend Adlestrop - Chastleton, Blockley - Batsford and Burford - Widford. I also walked each night to the Tite Inn - left out of site (about 1 mile), was pretty and very friendly pub. Looking forward to a third visit to the site - loved it!

Being told off for using disabled wash facilities during all access hours was not a good start...

This review is for Chipping Norton

Being told off for using disabled wash facilities during all access hours was not a good start and ruined our holiday. Hubby could not help having an 'accident' and having to wash ( not shower). Can understand the need to exclude use of shower in disabled toilet during cleaning time of main shower block. But surely a wash when imperative is not out of the question.Disabled awareness training would be an improvement. An extra toilet for disabled would also be a great improvement. We will not be back. Friendliness was not always apparent.
