Overview

Great site for exploring the pretty Cotswolds towns and their attractions.

Amid the honey-coloured villages of the Cotswolds is where you’ll find the Club’s charming Chipping Norton campsite. Tucked away off the beaten track, this campsite offers a mix of level and sloping pitches, surrounded by trees and dry stone walls.

If it’s peace and tranquillity you are after, this site delivers in spades. But it would a shame not to venture off site and explore the beauty of the Cotswolds. Hop in your car or catch the bus right outside the site and discover the charms of Chipping Norton itself, Chadlington, Charbury and Witney for starters.

No stay at Chipping Norton campsite should be without a visit to Stow on the Wold, Bourton-on-the- Water and Batsford. As well as brimming with charm, they boast an eclectic mix of family attractions including Birdland and a model village in Bourton. Batsford Arboretum and Hidcote Manor are also worth visiting.

Worth Noting

Most pitches are sloping so chocks will be required. The site has full recycling facilities.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

There is a Farmers’ Market on the third Saturday of the month in Chipping Norton. Several farm shops in the area sell locally grown fruit and vegetables.

We stayed at the site for two nights at the start of our two week break in the Cotswolds.

We stayed at the site for two nights at the start of our two week break in the Cotswolds. Having been impressed with the site first time we decided to end our holiday at the same site for three nights. There was a bus stop outside the site into Chipping Norton and Witney where buses linked up to Oxford, Banbury and Blenheim Palace. Although the site is a little dated like many other sites it was kept exceptionally clean and tidy by the duty wardens.

Quiet site, apart from the odd helicopter overhead. Grass well maintained.

Quiet site, apart from the odd helicopter overhead. Grass well maintained. Facilities roomy and spotless. Excellent disabled room. Bus stop right outside site. Chipping Norton quiet, with nice cafe's and a few shops to get your basics. No hardstandings and mostly slightly sloping, so not sure what it would be like when wet. Wardens very pleasant and helpful.

A very friendly clean and tidy site, well placed for touring the Cotswolds.

A very friendly clean and tidy site, well placed for touring the Cotswolds. The only down side was the shower block which is very tired and dated, the shower cubicles are quite small and the height of the shower heads are not ideal unless you are particularly short. We spent a week on site and enjoyed ourselves and would certainly return, if in the meantime the showers were improved it would be almost perfect.
