I booked a two night stay with the CCC online booking site to make use of the 20% club discount. I had a tent 5x5, myself and my dog. The booking site said hard standing only so use steel pegs, of which have. I booked the two nights & said I would arrive 12.00. I did not expect that I would need an electric jack hammer to get the steel pegs into the hard standing ground, to hold down the legs of my tent and the sides. After 45 mins of hard work the site warden appeared to say he would be happy for the guy lines to go into the grass. I asked about a grass pitch. He said it was all about grass management this time of the year. However, fantastic location to visit the wall; good dog walking along the river; the pub good food & dog friendly. I feel this Club site could do a lot better re customer service towards it's tenting members, after all it is a Camping and Caravanning Club site - 'the friendly club'?

One or two reviewers have commented on the showers. There are two for each sex, which is perfectly adequate. We only had to wait briefly once each in a week. Water always hot.

Easy to find, given choice of pitches which was great.

Easy to find, given choice of pitches which was great. Always wary of noise, but can honestly say the only thing I heard was the river next to me and the wind in the trees - very relaxing. Was great for dog walking too and had a choice of places to walk to off road. Would re-visit if in area and would recommend to others
