Camping on the Isle of Wight – perfect for relaxing on this tiny island, just a short ferry trip from the England’s south coast.

You’ll find our Adgestone Club campsite in a quiet countryside setting on the beautiful Isle of Wight close to the popular Sandown resort.

Although a large site – 270 pitches – the site is very well laid out with some secluded pitches and is orientated towards families. Adgestone is the only Club Site with a swimming pool which is heated from June until the first week of September and a children’s paddling pool. In addition to the usual toilet/shower facilities, the site also boasts two children’s play areas – one for younger campers and another more extensive area for older children as well as table tennis, boules, outdoor chess and giant jenga. There’s also a shop and takeaway on site and a private fishing pool stocked with carp.

There numerous walking and cycling opportunities from the campsite. Beach lovers are spoilt for choice with the seaside resorts of Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Cowes and Ryde all close by. For days out Dinosaur Isle, Shanklin Chine, the Needles and Blackgang Chine shouldn’t be missed.

Adgestone Vineyard, overlooking Brading Down – itself worth exploring for its spectacular views across Culver Down and Sandown Bay - offers tours of its wine cellars and tastings. Its café serves excellent cream teas too.

We really enjoyed our 7 nights at Adgestone.

This review is for Adgestone

We really enjoyed our 7 nights at Adgestone. The site is big but was only quarter full at most during our visit, just prior to the school holidays. Agree with others that the facilities are a bit dated but that adds the charm of the place. Warm welcome from the the manager. Really liked having the shop and takeaway on site. All in all a very enjoyable week and we hope to return.

The introduction of life guards this year whilst being a sensible addition, has made our relaxed family holiday much less pleasurable than last year. As vigilant parents we do not enjoy being constantly told how to look after our own children in the pool area. It is a life guards job to watch and step in where necessary not dictate. I would consider another site with a pool next year.

We had a great time at the site and would certainly recommend it to friends.

We had a great time at the site and would certainly recommend it to friends. Bad start when we followed the AA website map to the site. I would really suggest that at more precarious routes in to the site it would be helpful to have a "don't go this way" sign!! The site is only 200m from an absolutely beautiful cycle trail to Newport and Cowes - 7 and 12 miles respectively. I think the site could make more of this asset as it is perfect for the occasional cyclist with a pretty flat route the whole way. The pool area is fantastic and great for an early evening dip. The lifeguards are highly focussed on safety, but sometimes could relax just a bit! We are looking forward to the opportunity to return. Isle of Wight has so much to offer and this site is a lovely base to explore from. Thanks to the whole team for making our stay so fantastic. Tim, Liz, Lawrence and Heather
