A Boroughbridge man has won the Camping and Caravanning Club’s latest competition and taken home a RoofBunk Super Explorer XL tent with accessories worth more than £2,500.

Peter Dobson, a retired HGV technician, entered the competition online and plans to use it on his future caravan holidays with his grandchildren, Evie, 6 and Alfie, 3.

Peter said: “My wife, Lindy, and I have a two-berth caravan which is perfect for us but a little cramped when the grandkids come on holiday too. The RoofBunk will be ideal for them.

“I’m going to have it fitted to my car locally and we can’t wait to put it to the test as a family.”

Peter and his wife enjoy touring all around the UK and have ticked off spots including Scotland, the Lake District and the Pembrokeshire coast.

Madeleine Birch, the Club’s PR and Events Manager, said: “Peter entered our competition online and in just one click he’s won the most amazing prize.

“I’m pleased he will now have more options when it comes to his family camping holidays and I hope his grandkids enjoy looking up at the stars from the comfort of their beds.”

Pete Roberts from RoofBunk said: “The RoofBunk Explorer Super XL is the biggest version of our popular range of roof tents and the largest roof tent in the UK.

“It's a soft shell roof tent design, sleeps up to two adults and four children and can be pitched in minutes. I hope Peter and family get lots of use from it on their future camping holidays.”

Roof tents are rising in popularity and one of the fastest growing sectors in UK camping. In the past twelve months, the number of campers arriving in roof tents on Camping and Caravanning Club Sites has increased exponentially.
