    Great site for families

Enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers and beautiful Peak District from this Club Site.

The Peak District National Park is right on the doorstep of our Alton, The Star Club campsite. This attractive, well maintained family-friendly site is perfectly placed for Alton Towers theme park – just a mile from site. Similarly those who enjoy heading off into the great outdoors will not be disappointed with some great walking country right on the doorstep.

Carsington Water and Visitor Centre, north east of the campsite, offers a wide range of activities for all the family on and off the water including miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore, a children’s play area, fishing and many water sports.

While Stoke-on-Trent may not be an obvious tourist destination you can see the Anglo-Saxon treasures of The Staffordshire Hoard at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery here. There’s also the Wedgewood Visitor Centre full of artefacts, some dating back to Josiah Wedgewood – the man who started the pottery industry as we know it today.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Self-catering accommodation is available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

Caravan holiday homes and Self Catering holidays available. Super Service pitches overlook the play area. If towing, approach the site from the North, avoid travelling through Cheadle. All grass pitches are sloping - levelling blocks will be required.

Eat Local

Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Café, located in a barn, sells Farm's own beef as well as local vegetables, cheeses, cakes, gifts and beers from some of the region's best independent suppliers. The Star Pub is 500 yrds from the site entrance.

The site has all the facilities but is very hilly. The toilets are a distance from most pitch's. The staff probably need more experience as they are not very flexible regarding customer needs we were told to arrive before 8pm,as the lady said we would not be allowed on site after 8pm.So,we did rush but got there before the site shut at 8pm.The site itself is very well kept, one of the best we have been to but maybe some of the female wardens are in the wrong job, very ' jobsworth 'indeed. The pub down the road lives up to expectations, lovely food, lovely setting and lovely hosts. Can't wait to go back there.Leek is a very nice place with an indoor market as well.

After getting stuck in the mud only due to my fault (rescued by friendly on site staff ) i returned 3 weeks later for another great stay. After writing my previous review about my last visit I stumbled across the other reviews regarding staff and showers etc. THE PLACE IS A CAMPSITE NOT A HOTEL !! I find the staff very friendly but some say miserable but take into account that when you arrive they have to stick their heads into the computer system to check you in. Any body that says the site is not clean is probably lying and to be honest the staff are to particular about keeping the site clean. Regarding the comments about the showers ! yes they are a bit tricky to master but they do the job its called camping. Thanks again to all the staff for my last visit. See you soon.

Not been to this site before but l will probably go again but not at the weekend. We love kids,we have our own but we like quieter sites nowadays. The site is very well presented, with a huge camping field at the top of the site with tremendous sunsets. The grounds staff are very likeable, even having a joke with the warden who took us to our pitch, think he is called Neil. The lady wardens are not as interested, one even ignoring me when l said hello. The facilities are fine, but showers a bit small, but plenty to go at.The motorhome service point is on one of the roads, not ideal but adequate. We will come back, probably with grandchildren as the play area is massive.

This review is for Alton, The Star

My family and I had the pleasure of making Alton, The Star C&CC site the first official holiday destination in our first caravan, having been tenting for a few years and staying at a club site last year we knew roughly what to expect but The Star rose we'll above our expectations. The facilities are fantastic very clean and well presented, the staff are friendly and more than happy to help even when my wife tries to destroy a washing machine and my eldest loved the massive play area. We opted for a full service pitch which is completely hard standing, my only criticism which is more of a note to self make sure you have something to put under your groundsheet/awning carpet as the chippings are sharp and you will definitely need rock pegs, other than that the hardstandings are reasonably level but the grass pitches you will need blocks. Please take note of the warning about getting to the site, avoid driving through Cheadle as you will have to climb a 16% hill, the A52 from Stoke is better but still a little steep in places (AVOID COTTON LANE REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOUR SAT NAV TELLS YOU use Ellastone Road instead) my advice would be take the A515 from the A50 to Ashbourne, pick up the A52 towards Stoke and turn left onto the B5417 it's a much easier road. One minor thing to add the shop is not very well stocked and the nearest supermarket is in Cheadle a 15 minute drive away. All in all a beautiful site with fantastic facilities a stones throw from many of Staffordshire's and Derbyshire's best known attractions.

“A group of friends and myself stayed at this site for 3 nights. The site were brilliant and accommodating with our requests. The wardens were really friendly and chatty. The self catering caravan we stayed in was immaculate and even blankets were in the wardrobes which was good as the evenings were a little chilly. No complaints about the 'van and within 5 mins drive of Alton Towers (our main reason for the choice of site) As with any other club site, I would not hesitate in recommending this site or returning, I'm already planning a return trip next year!”

- Kizzi

The holiday caravans are just one mile away from the theme park, meaning the whole family can enjoy a great value break!
