A spacious, quiet campsite by the county town of Hertford that you can enjoy all year round.

Our Hertford Club campsite is on the outskirts of the attractive market town of the same name and surrounded by rolling countryside.

This campsite, although large is spacious with some 250 pitches, offers many quiet and secluded pitches and there are lots of separate areas to choose from. The site is well laid out with well- maintained facilities including washing machine and dryers, inside dish washing area, an outdoor play area and dog walk.

There is a separate tent area with a facility block close at hand. The whole site is plentifully supplied with trees, hedges and shrubs and there is an attractive lake too.

It’s an easy walk into Hertford with its town square and River Lea towpath walk. And Balls Park close by is excellent for dog-walks.

The Cole Green Way, part of the National Cycle Network, is about 1.5 miles from the campsite, starting at Hertford Football Club it follows a former railway to Welwyn Garden City. There are more recreational options at Hartham Common, just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre.

For days out there’s Paradise Wildlife Park, Knebworth House and Waltham Abbey or you can take a train to London from Hertford East which is a 20-minute walk from the campsite.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

We have just arrived home from a 3 night stay at Hertford site.

This review is for Hertford

We have just arrived home from a 3 night stay at Hertford site. Our three children had a fantastic time, they enjoyed the play area, exploring the site, making camps in the trees and finding the animals on the treasure hunt. I would heartily recommend this site, we hope to return before the summer is over!

We have just returned from a three night stay over the bank holiday.

This review is for Hertford

We have just returned from a three night stay over the bank holiday. The welcome we received was great despite the staff being obviously busy. We were shown to a lovely pitch but was told we could view others if we were not happy. We were very happy with our pitch which was a generous size. The site was moderately busy and I never had trouble getting a shower. Having said that I usually showered in the afternoons after the day's activities so cannot really comment on how the mornings were. The site is tidy and beautiful and obviously well cared for. Despite it's size and the fact that it was a bank holiday, it would have also been peaceful had it not been for the group who decided that maybe the whole camp would like to hear their thumping music. I would like to have seen some intervention from staff in relation to this. Dont get me wrong, I'm not a partypooper but we were a field and a bit from the said group and I pitied those who were closer! The shower facilities were dated but it was oh so lovely to have a steaming hot shower (you can chose the temperature yourself) and one where you didn't have to press a button every 20 seconds. There are some lovely walks around the site and a large area where dogs are allowed off the lead. Our little labradoodle couldn't have had more fun! We asked about local walks at the site shop and, for a small donation to the flower fund, was provided with a leaflet which detailed four walks/cycles close by. We walked to Hertford Heath from the site which was mostly along public footpaths away from the road. We also walked into Hertford and then along to Ware which was through Hartham Common alongside the river / canal - wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and didn't want to leave. We will definitely be returning in the future.

We left it late to book a few nights away over the late May bank holiday weekend and this one of the few sites showing availability. It wasn't somewhere we would normally have visited but we are so glad that there was availability and we shall return! Lovely friendly and efficient welcome, help getting onto a pitch that was surrounded by shrubs making life a little difficult and the offer of help for when we left, which we didn't need. We were pitched on Piccadilly Circus, a misnomer! Really quiet, so peaceful, the only sounds in the evenings were the birds. A torch was useful for avoiding the rabbits at night. Facilities were ample and clean as always on club sites but it was the feeling of space on site that really impressed, even though it was fully booked for the weekend there was more than enough space for everyone and plenty of space for children to play and enjoy themselves without being a nuisance to those who prefer not to hear them! We enjoyed the cycling around the locality and RSPB Rye Meads is well worth a visit. We're looking forward to making many more discoveries on return visits.

Why are the disabled facilities sited away from the service blocks? I have to use the disabled facility at the office but then go to the toilet block to do the washing up. Apart from this another very welcome break on a lovely site!
