Still as gorgeous 3yrs later Well it took me 3yrs to bring Chris here from when I first came with my son, and the location, views, and river are amazing, and we were here the last week of sunny September 15, Wales was stunning, Criccieth 3 mins drive/40 mins walk, Porthmadog and steam trains 20mins , the absolutely gorgeous village of Portmeriman 25mins, Barmouth via Harlech coast road, 50mins, the West pernisula with stunning views 55mins drive, the beautiful village of Beddgelert 40mins drive, these are all of the lovely places we visited, and would recommend that you go on the steam trains, we had already been on the Ffestiniog line which is stunning, so this time we payed the extra (36 return trip each ) to go on the Welsh Highland railway, absolutely lovely especially on a clear sunny day where you can see that the caf at the top of Snowden, and as it was our wedding anniversary we treated ourselves to a meal at the Castell Deudraeth just outside Portmeriman, at the time of writing this, they were doing a offer of, if you had a two course meal with them, they will give you a voucher for free entry into Portmeriman, so eg we spent 66 including a bottle of wine for a meal but if you take of 20 for the entry fee (2ף10)then the meal cost 46,it was a special occasion, and so was our whole time in Wales, the weather was lovely, the site lovely, the site owners were very friendly, especially when your greeted with 3mth old mini jack Russells, just a small word of warning the entrance in/out could be a little bit tight so just swing out to allow for it, WE CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK, let's hope it isn't another 3yrs before we do go back, thank you cheers

Having driven over 100 miles with an excited child, I was a little put out on arrival to find that my booking had been lost and we weren't expected. However, we were allowed to stay and after the rocky start things improved greatly. The site is right on the riverside and has its own small river beach that is directly accessible. For those with younger children, this is gated and fenced, along with the rest of the riverside belonging to the site. Despite its location in the village, there is no intrusive road noise, only the sound of the river. Facilities include one toilet for ladies and one for men, plus a separate shower. There was no problem with queues but it might have been helpful if the slot meter for the shower had been labelled or explained on arrival as I had no idea how to operate the shower until a fellow camper helped! It obviously wasn't just me as I then had to help the new arrivals next to us. A minor point, though. This was one of the friendliest sites I have been to in terms of chatting to the other campers. I would definitely return, would stay longer, and would recommend the site as a great base for exploring North West Wales.

This is now one of our favourite sites...

This review is for Tyn Ddol

This is now one of our favourite sites... Set in the beautiful little village of LLanystumdwy with easy access to the site & only a few miles from Criccieth... It now has 5 hook ups, (A longer lead may be required but Mr Jones has a few spares)... Lovely & level with nice clean toilets with H&C water & a seperate shower... Dish washing facilities are available There's a river running right next to the sight where salmon fishing is allowed although after heavy rain, it does get rather loud if you've pitched up next to it, but it didn't keep us awake in our c/van... There are sheep & Shetland ponies in the adjacent field & hens further away (Fresh eggs are available to buy) ... Mr & Mrs Jones are lovely & we received a warm welcome when we arrived... There's also a camping field which looks nice & level & the grass on both fields is lovely & short & it doesn't flood in heavy rain... The "Feathers" pub in the village is walking distance where the staff are friendly & we could take our dog into the bar (except Friday when it gets quite busy)... There are some nice walks around the village & beyond... Can't wait for our next visit !

Beautiful village site with lovely owners who made us very welcome.

Beautiful village site with lovely owners who made us very welcome. We camped next to the river, away from the hook-ups for 7 nights. Family of five in an eight man tent cost us 17.50 all in each night. Used the ice block service in our cool bag but kept an electric fridge in the car which we travelled in most days. Level site, pub around the corner open from 6pm. Close to club site and local cottage selling home grown produce. Great for coastal walks and Criccieth only 1.5 miles away. Will definitely return next year. Lovely village place of David Lloyd George's childhood, grave and museum. Chatty, friendly villagers too!
