Overview

Set in the heart of the Blackmore Vale, less than an hour’s drive from the spectacular Jurassic Coast, The Trooper Campsite is a perfect, secluded base from which to explore the region. Our Hideaway site is nestled at the back of the Trooper Inn pub in a small level field & has the benefit of 2 recently installed luxurious wet rooms, that are located at the back of the Old Barn. The site is close enough to appreciate the convenience of our vintage pub, yet far enough away to absorb the peaceful countryside, where you can enjoy waking up to the sights and sounds of rural Dorset. Whether in a caravan, campervan, motorhome or tent, there is plenty to see and do and we are close to the borders of Somerset and Wiltshire. As well as relaxing in the beautiful surroundings, soaking up the atmosphere and history, and of course chatting with the locals at The Trooper Inn, there are also annual festivals to enjoy, such as The Trooper Inn Beer & Gin Festival, The Oak Fair, the Chilli Festival, the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival, as well as others during the summer period. Book early, we do get busy
Please contact the campsite directly if you have any questions about opening dates, facilities or additional measures at this campsite.

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

To vote for your favourite CS, all you need to do is fill in the online form and select which category you would like to nominate the campsite for.
