There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.

Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club campsite. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.

This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual showers rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off site, Tavistock has a large dog walking area on site too.

Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hill and wooded valleys. For example, the 11-mile Granite Way passes north of Tavistock campsite from Lydford to Okehampton and takes in spectacular views of Meldon viaduct, Meldon lake and Okehampton castle.

A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.

The beautiful village of Sheepstor south east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

What a great place to stay! This was our first stop (4 nights) on a 12-day tour around the west country, and what a start to the holiday. On arrival, we were made to feel very welcome, and checked in with ease. We were offered a variety of pitches, and settled for a spacious one for our 6 berth tent. The site is in pristine condition, and the amenities blocks were excellent; clean, spacious and bright. In fact, the largest shower compartments we have ever come across, each with their own toilet, sink, seat, shower, with plenty of space for changing. They have a small selection of goods for sale at the reception, both frozen and general things ....... including ice-creams! Ideal location for walking and cycling on Dartmoor, with plenty of other attractions not too far away. The Dartmoor pub is a short drive up the Princetown road to Merrivale. There is a Morrison's supermarket situated on the Plymouth road in Tavistock, being a couple of miles from the campsite. It is certainly a campsite we would not hesitate to revisit.

This is the 3rd time we have visited Dartmoor and this site is by far the best so far. I believe it would be hard to beat. The location is excellent not too far from the town nor from the moor. It has 5* facilities that were always clean even when the site filled up with passing trade. Over and above the standard dog walk, Pitches spacious and the whole camp site kept clean and tidy. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend this site, a hidden little gem.

This was my first time taking my campervan away without my husband, this time I met my friend at the campsite in her campervan. So I was glad of the warm welcome I got from the managers. The pitch was a good size and very flat. The shower block was amazing, with cubicles each containing a a shower, loo and sink and very clean. It had plenty of hooks and shelf space in it which is often lacking in other campsites and leaves me wondering where to put everything whilst in the shower. The site is right on Dartmoor so has wonderful walks. I will definitely go back with my husband
