This site has gone downhill since we last stayed about 3 year's ago.

This site has gone downhill since we last stayed about 3 year's ago. Due to the high volume of seasonal pitches it feels almost residential. We took a pitch near the front entrance as the weather forecast was not fantastic and needed to be near elson point. Big mistake as most residents were there and they were quite noisy. We felt that we were intruders. Site manager never said hello once, felt that he valued his pals more. Not sure of clubs standing on washing caravans and vehicles on site, but the site manager provided hose pipes for two units to do this. Not seen this before, plus the yelling at each other whilst they were doing it. Saturday morning we were awoken by a car revving at the barrier at 7.05am as it couldn't get out. Furthermore, the site manager repairing the mower unit before 9am, again with engine revving. Final negative was the cleanliness of the els on point. Someone, made a good old mess with splashes up the side wall on Saturday before I emptied ours. Still the same on Sunday when we left so not cleaned for 24 hours. We love the location. Fish and chips were great. Assistant warden was welcoming on arrival, but sadly our stay was disappointing and we could not wait to get away Sunday morning.

I had a long forced stay on the site due to having a motor bike accident while my caravan was sited at the site. I could not drive due to my injuries caused by an uninsured driver knocking me off my motor bike. Due to my injuries it was difficult to do the daily tasks you need to do while staying. My partner Cath dropped me off at the site and fetched and carried for me to set me up for the week while she went home and continued to work during my rehab. I have to say with out the friendly and helpful staff I would have struggled much more than I did. They were very helpful when ever I asked for assistance. My dog Jack became ill and the staff at the site organised an appointment at the local vets and a pet friendly taxi to get me there and back. I could not have been at a better site for my rehab the views and dog walks were a god send but most of all the help from Steve and the rest of the team made it possible for me to continue my stay. The only down side is the lane to get to the site. I have a new caravan and tow it with a new VW Transporter van which makes it a big unit hence why I stayed I did not want to ask anybody to tow my van down the narrow unmade lane. The access lane is in very poor condition and flooded more than once. I would suggest this should be addressed to make the site more popular. Thanks again to Steve and his team hopefully next time I come it will not be with injuries but will defiantly be back. I am a member of another caravan club and I am sure the friendly club was the better place to be during my rehab.

First class site.

This review is for Bakewell

First class site. Brilliant Site Manager and assistants, Unbelievably poor value for money! So what?s the problem. Well the answer lies in the third paragraph - ?Brilliant Site Manager? The ?Brilliant Site Manager? has devoted the past seven years to raising the standard of this site from the overgrown grassy slopes the previous incumbent left him (who incidentally showed more interest in his laptop than he did in the lawnmower) to a top quality ?4 star? camping site the Camping & Caravan Club are so rightly proud of. ?So rightly proud? are they that they wasted no time - in the light of the vastly increased popularity of the site - increasing the fees by between 98% and 133% when they introduced the new pricing structure, thus rendering the place pretty much deserted save for the 25 permanent pitches. To think the fuss we made when the ?leccy went up 8% - it pales into insignificance. To cap it all, the Clubs Management Team, who?s ?Mission statement? is ?Honesty, Integrity and Highly Satisfied Customers? are more than likely going to transfer the ?Brilliant Site Manager? because it?s club policy not to have someone stay on one site for too long Talk about killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Steve Moat spends seven seasons transforming the place into a top class camping site and is rewarded by an involuntary transfer. So lets see some Honesty, Integrity, and Highly Satisfied Customers! or are these to be just glib words plucked from the air to satisfy the latest trend. This site, beautiful as it is, has one Elson disposal point and 4 fresh water taps. So lets see some Honesty - realistic pricing! Integrity - support the site manager who we regulars admire and appreciate. Then 'Highly Satisfied Customers' we will be!
