Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

What a warm & friendly welcome we received from both sets of wardens.

This review is for Delamere Forest

What a warm & friendly welcome we received from both sets of wardens. Toilets and Shower block are always clean. The only issue is the timer on the showers are so short before you have to repress the button again. The site is in a fantastic location, for walks with or without your dog through the forest ... close enough to the Go Ape center . The railway station is very close by, but the trains never disturbed the peace and tranquillity. If you like your Fish n Chips there is a van that comes to site either on Friday or Saturday nights. Will definitely be back . Thanks for another caravan break.

Great place for walkers and mountain bikers. We went for a short weekend break with the kids. The site staff were very pleasant. The reception doubles as the shop for basic essentials. It has one main toilet/shower block which due to the small size of the site is ample and was very clean at various times of the day, this may be due to the high standards of the staff and the occupants. There was one waste/rubbish point but luckily we were pretty close to it so no problems there. The site hook-up we had was rated at a proper 16A unlike some other sites I've visited in the past where you only got 10A and some times only 5A. There's plenty to see and do including Go Ape, Bike hire for the countless trails in the nearby forest, Visitors centre, Cafe, The Mere itself, it's even got the local train station on the doorstep. We walked up to the top of the local transmitter where you get a clear 360 degree view of many different counties, then walked down to the Delamere visitors centre and cafe. Finished off with a walk through the forest towards the mere and back to the camp site for a drink.....of tea that is! The great thing is, especially if you have kids on bikes like we did, you don't have to go out onto the main road to reach the Forest or other attractions. Well worth a visit :-)

I had booked and paid on the phone half an hour before I arrived.

This review is for Delamere Forest

I had booked and paid on the phone half an hour before I arrived. When I arrived it was 11:15, and I was told that I couldn't check in until 12. Despite the lady remembering that I had called so knew I had paid. Had to sit there in the car until 12, when they advised me to pitch in the empty field next to where I had sat and waited for 45 minutes. I don't know why I wasn't allowed to pitch a little early. It seemed they were just purposely making me wait for no reason, as if to prove some petty point. We were given the run through of the site and given the code for the shower block, and given a comprehensive borderline patronising explanation of the site rules, particularly how there is no noise allowed after 11pm. Presumably this was because we were younger than the average guests at 27, even though we were a couple. I felt that we were treated more like an inconvenience rather than valued customers and the only reason I could see for this would be that we were relatively young. The site itself was nice enough, shower block was clean.

This campsite is well kept and very well looked after , it is a flat site, grass very well kept, spotless clean, peaceful, I would recommend this site to any one looking for a nice laid back holiday, although a few mile down the road is Chester and other towns where there is plenty to do.
