  • Whale cruises

The surrounding area

Our Inverewe Gardens Club campsite shares its name with the world-famous tropical Inverewe Gardens created by Osgood Mackenzie in 1862. This lush oasis perches on a peninsula at the edge of Loch Ewe surrounded by more than 2,000 acres of conservation estate.

There are plenty of walks to be enjoyed from site or cycle to Inveradale around the Loch. Further north Rubha nan Sasan, beyond Cove is home to a range of WWII command posts and gun emplacements which helped guard the entrance to Loch Ewe during the war.

Nearby Gairloch has a heritage Museum and Marine Life Centre offering daily cruises to survey dolphins, whales and seals.

This small club site is in a lovely spot at the foot of Loch Ewe - only yards from the waters edge. Great walks from the site . On the edge of Poolewe village which has a good shop and friendly hotel providing good food and local ales. Next door to Inverewe Gardens which is well worth visiting. The appearance of the local Pipe Band on site was a nice surprise - well done to the site managers for arranging this.

I have used the Poolewe site off & on for over 35 years and the facilities haven't really changed all that much. With it being on the N500 route it will become very busy and there is a slite shortage of showers , I think it really needs a complete refurbishment ( like Dingwall had ) . The site in general is very well looked after. I do understand the costs involved these days with refurbishment, baring in mind the nature of the site location. It would and could be the best of the " few " sites in Scotland.
