Forty-two leading national governing bodies and environmental organisations, including the Club, have joined together to support an Outdoors For All manifesto, seeking to extend responsible access to more green and blue landscapes.
Kevin East of the Canoe Camping Club, pictured left with Simon McGrath, the Club’s Head of Communications and External Relations, joined others for a parliamentary event on 6 March to launch the manifesto.
The manifesto is calling for a ‘natural health service’ that is free and available to all. The vision is to see more people more active more often, having nature-rich space that everyone can access, and a commitment to respecting, protecting and enjoying the country’s special spaces.
Central to this vision are calls on the next government to take a long-term approach and commit to addressing deep inequalities in public access and outdoor recreation. They also need to support improved educational provision to enhance people’s knowledge of how to access the countryside responsibly.
