Overview

Camping in the grounds of an ancient royal palace in the heart of Scotland.

Scone Palace is described as a breathtakingly beautiful place of power and mystery. It’s also the home of the celebrated Stone of Scone - also known as the Stone of Destiny – and our very own Scone Club campsite. Located in its vast estate, our campsite is a nature lovers’ paradise. Deer, buzzards, owls even ospreys have been spotted here. You might even find yourself sharing your pitch with one of the site’s resident black rabbits.

Our attractive, peaceful tree-line campsite has well-spaced pitches and excellent amenities including spacious showers and separate family and disabled facilities. There is a well-stocked shop with fresh rolls and newspapers delivered daily and a recreation room full of local information.

Scone Palace hosts many events and has amazing grounds, including the Lawns and Pinetum. Show your membership card to receive discounted tickets. Special rates are also available for grandstand tickets at Perth Racecourse next door to the campsite.

As well as some great walks along the river direct from site, sports lovers will be pleased to discover there are five golf courses within five miles of the campsite. There’s an award-winning Blue Flag beach at Broughty Ferry just east of Dundee. This sweeping stretch of golden sand is one of only eight beaches in Scotland to hold the Blue Flag status.

Just two miles from the campsite, the city of Perth has good shopping, a leisure centre and a theatre, while Pitlochry offers a children’s amusement park and Festival Theatre.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

Fly fishing (for trout only) is permitted on the River Tay, with permits available from the office. Only one car per pitch during high season and busy periods. Caravan Holiday Homes are available for purhcase.

Eat Local

Strawberries and other fruits are grown locally. Home-made cakes are sold at the Macmillan coffee shop 2.5 miles from the site. The site shop sells fresh Scottish morning rolls delivered daily, free-range eggs and strawberries in season.

I have been to this site a few times now & still find new things to do each time. The site is very well kept with a good mix of hardstanding & grass pitches with excellent facilities. The managers are as always hard working & very welcoming. This was the first time that I visited scone palace & really wished I had gone before managed to fill in almost 5 hours without any problems & highly recommended, good also that you get a small discount when you produce your site receipt. If you enjoy birdwatching a trip to Loch of the Lowes is well worth the 20 minute or so drive where you can watch osprey from the hides aswell as other waterfowl & garden birds. I am already looking forward to my next trip to scone a great site with great people.

Two minor site problems, A.

Two minor site problems, A. The access barrier key pad is too close to the barrier this could be a problem to bigger motor homes and in our case a large 4x4. You can just reach it without getting out of the vehicle. B. The site roads are in a poor state of repair and some of the road stone is too big, if you are walking you could easy twist an ankle.

Fantastic location with great facilities, however spoiled by the noise of the bins being emptied between 6am and 6.30am on the Saturday at the Race Course next door, was just unacceptable. I complained to the staff who assured me that they would speak to the Council/Race Course. The satellite TV reception didn't connect on the first night, the site staff were great and moved us for the second night. The site wifi didn't work for us on the Saturday/ Sunday 24 hour period, wasn't a major issue as I only paid 2. The weather was fantastic, so apart from the bin noise, we had a great weekend. Thanks to the kind staff.

Well kept site, can be a very busy site so probably best to book before you go.

Well kept site, can be a very busy site so probably best to book before you go. Wardens are helpful and welcoming and always busy, but are always there if needed. The site is clean and well kept with excellent amenities and a very friendly place to stay. Children have a nice little play area away from the vans and motorhomes so don't disturb those who just want a quiet and relaxing break. Will certainly use the site again, many times hopefully.
