Overview

Camping in the grounds of an ancient royal palace in the heart of Scotland.

Scone Palace is described as a breathtakingly beautiful place of power and mystery. It’s also the home of the celebrated Stone of Scone - also known as the Stone of Destiny – and our very own Scone Club campsite. Located in its vast estate, our campsite is a nature lovers’ paradise. Deer, buzzards, owls even ospreys have been spotted here. You might even find yourself sharing your pitch with one of the site’s resident black rabbits.

Our attractive, peaceful tree-line campsite has well-spaced pitches and excellent amenities including spacious showers and separate family and disabled facilities. There is a well-stocked shop with fresh rolls and newspapers delivered daily and a recreation room full of local information.

Scone Palace hosts many events and has amazing grounds, including the Lawns and Pinetum. Show your membership card to receive discounted tickets. Special rates are also available for grandstand tickets at Perth Racecourse next door to the campsite.

As well as some great walks along the river direct from site, sports lovers will be pleased to discover there are five golf courses within five miles of the campsite. There’s an award-winning Blue Flag beach at Broughty Ferry just east of Dundee. This sweeping stretch of golden sand is one of only eight beaches in Scotland to hold the Blue Flag status.

Just two miles from the campsite, the city of Perth has good shopping, a leisure centre and a theatre, while Pitlochry offers a children’s amusement park and Festival Theatre.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite.

Worth Noting

Fly fishing (for trout only) is permitted on the River Tay, with permits available from the office. Only one car per pitch during high season and busy periods. Caravan Holiday Homes are available for purhcase.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. Prices.

Eat Local

Strawberries and other fruits are grown locally. Home-made cakes are sold at the Macmillan coffee shop 2.5 miles from the site. The site shop sells fresh Scottish morning rolls delivered daily, free-range eggs and strawberries in season.

This site it everything that sites shouldn't be.

This site it everything that sites shouldn't be. When we arrived we were initially greeted warmly the but got into trouble for my wife not carrying the Camping and Caravan Club membership card even though I had mine and had paid in full. We then waited to be sited which was a pleasant experience. The site is surrounded by poplar trees that gives it a very European feel but then in the middle of the site is located the ugliest utility building I have ever seen. It was screened a little at the front but no where else. Very unsightly especially when combined with several large electrical and sewage treatment units. Most sites manage to plant shrubs etc around units such as these. To our amazement the toilets are closed for 1.5 daily for cleaning which isn't great with young kids. Also the toilets have a limited supply of hand soap and no hand dryers- again not great with young kids. We were on site over a bank holiday weekend with approximately 80% of the pitches full - when the staff decided to cut the grass!! So we were subjected to 3-4 hours of lawn mowing by 2 ride on mowers on May Bank Holiday Sunday! Ironically the next day when almost everyone was leaving or had left there wasn't a mower to be heard! And finally to sum up the attitude of the site my 8 year old son got into trouble by the staff using the entrance barrier whilst cycling to and from the bins! Although I'm sure he'd have also got into trouble for pushing his bike through the pedestrian path! What a site! We've been a member of the club for 5 years and stayed at various numerous sites this was one of the worst.
