Discover Dorset's beautiful beaches & surrounding area from our Moreton campsite.
Dorset’s beautiful beaches, heath and downlands are all accessible from our Moreton Club campsite located in the heart of Wessex and surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our 120-pitch site is open and spacious with a good range of facilities, including two amenity blocks, a small children’s play area and a dog walk.
Moreton station next to the campsite is on routes to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth and the bus stop, half a mile from site, will take you to the pretty county town of Dorchester where you can enjoy a number of walking trails including the Thomas Hardy trail and the Roman Town Walk. The town’s Borough Gardens has tennis courts, a bowling green and a children’s play area and hosts a number of events through the summer including live bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.
Head to the sleepy village of Moreton and stop off at the Tearooms, situated in the old school at Moreton for a cream tea. Thomas Edward Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia” is buried in the church here. A more elaborate memorial can be found at St. Martins church, Wareham.
The village forms part of the “Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail. The walks take in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church and Lawrence’s grave.
Attractions in the area include the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World Ape rescue Centre in Wareham and Lulworth and Corfe Castles. For the best beaches, head to the circularLulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay – great for rock pooling and swimming – and the blue flag beach at Swanage.
Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we
welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not

We have just returned from an enjoyable time at the Morton Site.
The trains are very regular and an excellent way to get to Poole or Weymouth. You get used to the sound of them tooting as they go past the site and they do stop at night.
If you want a quiet pitch do not chose a pitch which backs onto the railway or is near the pub.
The site seemed to be quite crammed and even more so at weekends and some campers seemed to have difficulty getting to their pitches because of the way that the pitches were occupied by other campers. There was no marked road in and out for the "outer row" campers and they just had to weave their way in and out as best they can. The aerial photo in the web page only shows two rows of units on the outer ring but we saw a third row being used while we were there.
Also the central area was filled and it was quite common to walk/ drive across other campers's power supplies to get to your pitch. This meant that the unwritten rule of not going on someone else's pitch/ area could not be followed.
Taking into account the number of units on site I was pleasantly surprised that I never had to queue for a shower or the toilet.
The toilet blocks however are quite dated and the showers cubicles are small. There are no cubicles for private washing.
The washing machine is excellent and good value for money.
In view of the ever increasing size of tents these days I think this site could be improved by either developing a way of marking each pitch's boundaries or by only having two rows of units used on the outer circle.

Lovely site for families with small sand pit and park area. Facilities kept clean and are functional but starting to look tired with taps leaking etc. Plenty of toilets and showers. Has a washing machine and dryer but can get busy and be difficult to find a free slot, could do with two washing machines. Ground is very hard so need very robust pegs if using a tent or awning.

We left 2 messages on the site answerphone before arrival and no-one bothered to call us back. On arrival the staff were very abrupt and not friendly and welcoming at all. We went at the start of the school holidays. The site was nearly full (120 pitches) There were 2 facility blocks. Ours had only 3 showers so always a queue. 6 toilets in the ladies and no private washbasins. My husband said taps were loose on the sinks in the gents and the ceramic toilet bowls were loose. We have stayed in a few C&C sites and this was the most expensive and the worst so far. However, train station just outside so very convenient to get around if you have no car.

“Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years.
Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite.”
