Beautiful beaches

In and around the charming town of Southwold are a selection of delightful beaches waiting to be explored. Southwold town itself is home to two beaches:

  • Southwold Pier Beach – Salty chips, a cool breeze, delicious ice-cream, a classic penny arcade and shining sun; Southwold Pier has all the attributes of a perfect seaside pier. Southwold Pier Beach is one of Suffolk’s most well-known beaches and loved by both locals and tourists alike for its clear water and golden sand.
  • Denes Beach – Denes Beach is a great beach for families and dog-owners. Well-maintained and dog-friendly, make sure to bring your pooch along with you for a fantastic day out.

  • Southwold Sailors’ Reading Room – Originally built in 1864 as a hub for fishermen and mariners to read and relax, this building offers plenty to see. Step into this room for a moment of peace and learn more about the history of sailors and the intriguing reading room they used to spend their time in.
  • Southwold Railway Trust – The Southwold Railway was an incredible 3-foot narrow gauge linking Southwold and with the Great Eastern main line at Halesworth. The Southwold Railway Trust was first established in 2006 and their end goal is to bring re-instatement of the railway and eventually connect Southwold to the main line railway at Halesworth. Visit the attraction and enjoy miniature train rides for kids, a café, an engine shed, a gift shop and much more!
