Top campsites for a family cycling holiday in the UK

At The Camping and Caravanning Club, our extensive campsite network gives you hundreds of locations for you and your family to explore on two wheels. Clent Hills Club Site, Birmingham

Aptly named, this campsite is located less than a mile from the Clent Hills themselves which provide miles of paths to explore. Quiet country lanes and gentle valleys are within reach at the Shropshire Hills too. Explore the tracks and countryside around Ludlow with this 8.5 mile route.

Being one of our midlands campsites, Clent Hills is within reach of top attractions including Cadbury World, the Black Country Living Museum and or course the city centre with the National Sea Life Centre. Kids are well catered for on-site with a play area and if an easy city break, with minimal set-up on site appeals to you, Clent Hills glamping via Ready Camp is available.

Cambridge Club Site, Cambridgeshire

Fairly flat land makes the extensive network of Cambridgeshire cycle trails ideal for kids. Hop on your bikes and explore the many cycle routes around the city, stopping off at points of interest along the way. The campsite is four miles from the city, an ideal distance away from a faster pace of life. Pets are welcome on Cambridge and a children’s play area allows a safe place for kids to burn off extra energy.

Lynton Club Site, Devon

The Two Moors Way, Traka Trail and Samaritans Way SW are all accessible from Lynton. All popular routes with cyclists and walkers, they can be tailored to your families ability and provide stunning scenery of the Devon countryside. A wide range of local routes can also be found on the RouteYou website. On-site you can buy a cycling map for a few pounds and the site managers can provide information on the best route for you. Nearby beaches and an on-site play area are sure to keep the kids entertained on non-cycling days.

California Cross, Devon

Near the starting point of the Two Moors Way, California Cross is one of our top sites for beaches and families. Enjoy an active cycling break, exploring the north Devon coast or take things easy with a gentle ride through the rolling countryside. Located between two sandy beaches, there’s plenty for families to do both on and off site.

Verwood Club Site, New Forest

With way-marked tracks, the New Forest more than caters for those venturing out on two wheels. With the whole of the New Forest to explore, you’ll never run out of routes to take and things to see. Not only is Verwood great for cyclists, there are a selection of great family attractions nearby including Paultons Family Theme Park and Splashdown Water Park. On site a ball game area, family shower room, recreation hall and play area will keep the kids entertained.

Corfe Castle Club Site, Dorset

The Purbeck Hills, an Area of Outstanding natural beauty is an ideal location to explore on two wheels as a family. This short, off road Rempstone route is worth a try. This is one of our top sites for beaches, dogs and photography. A family shower room, play area and mother and baby room make Corfe Castle perfect for a family cycling holiday.

Adgestone Club Site, Isle of Wight

The entire Isle of Wight is yours to explore on a camping trip to Adgestone. There are numerous cycling opportunities directly from the campsite, ask site staff for recommended routes on arrival. Adgestone has a takeaway, dog walk, area for a ball games and a family shower room.

Ravenglass Club Site, Lake District

Six acres of woodland surround this site, just 500 metres from the seafront. With both the woodland to explore on your bike and a beach nearby, you get the perfect mix of both worlds. The Hadrian’s Cycle Way starts nearby. The campsite is within good reach of pubs, beaches and caters well for family life.

Theobalds Park Club Site, London

Although just off the M25, you wouldn’t realise London was just 30 minutes away via train. In the heart of the countryside, Theobalds makes an ideal break away from the busy city. The nearby Lee Valley Park caters well for not only cyclists but walkers and nature lovers too. Cycling routes are well marked and ideal for family cycling. A family shower room, play area and Club Site Wi-Fi all lend well to a family camping break.

Beadnell Bay Club Site, Northumberland

The Coast and Castles and National Cycle Routes pass by this site making it a great cycling location with plenty of route options. Cycle Northumberland has some great routes marked out. Beadnell Bay itself is just a few minutes from the campsite and offers a sandy break away from the site. The medieval Alnwick Castle is nearby along with Bamburgh Castle, both worth a visit. A play area, space for ball games and great facilities make Beadnell Bay a great family campsite.

Dunstan Hill Club Site, Northumberland

This rural campsite is in an ideal location to explore the North Northumberland Heritage Coast. Explore the “castle coast” on bike, with plenty of tracks, quiet lanes and circular trails to enjoy. Dunstanburgh Castle is to the north of the campsite and Bamburgh Castle looks over the Farne Islands. Alnwick Castle, best known for its role in the Harry Potter films is also within reach of the campsite. On-site you’ll find a play area, space for ball games, dog walk and family shower room.

Teversal, Peak District

This campsite has great access to traffic free cycling trails and with the Silverhill Wood Country Park just opposite the site, you can access the Teversal Trails. The Derbyshire Dales and Peak District offer endless cycling opportunities. Teversal have bikes for hire from the campsite so you wont even need to tote yours along with you. Kids are well catered for with space for ball games, a play area and family shower room on-site.

Milarrochy Bay, Scotland

The West Highland Way is right on the doorstep of Milarrochy Bay Club Site and nearby Loch Lomond offers plenty of options for watersports. Speak to site staff for details of nearby cycling trails on arrival. The campsite offers a parent and baby room and play area for kids.
