Leg 4: Bude to Damage Barton on the National Cycle Network
On the fourth leg of your holiday, you will travel north from Bude to Damage Barton. This is the longest leg of the journey; 70 miles long and taking approximately eight hours and 45 minutes to complete.
While this is probably the most challenging leg of the tour, it is stunningly beautiful; taking in picturesque villages and the awesome scenery of the north Devon coast.
Stop for a rest at the spectacular viewing point just outside the steep valley of Millook Haven, then freewheel along the coast road taking in the fresh sea air on Marine Drive as you head towards the bustling market town of Bude.
One of the highlights of this tour is the opportunity to cycle along the famous Tarka Trail, where you can take in a wide variety of landscapes; from wooded valleys, coastal cliffs and sandy bays. Joining the trail at Bury Cross, you will follow the route for well over ten miles into the bustling town of Barnstaple and onwards to Braunton.
At the end of your journey you will reach beautiful Woolacombe Bay, where you can stop and refuel ready for a final steep climb uphill towards Mortehoe and your final destination of Damage Barton campsite for a well-earned rest.
