An afternoon excursion to Le Mans automobile museum where you can discover the history of this classic race and discover the history of this classic race and look at the fantastic collection of the many 24-hours race’s winning cars displayed here.
A day at leisure. In the evening you will depart the campsite by coach to enjoy a three-course meal and drink in Le Mans. There will then be chance to enjoy the fantastic ‘Nuit des Chimères’ show which is a kaleidoscope of bright colours and images projected onto the buildings in the old town, the evening includes a trip on the little train around the town. You will then return to the campsite by coach.
Travel to the next campsite (69 miles) in Saumur where you will enjoy an evening three-course evening meal and drink in the site restaurant.
3 nights at Saumur campsite.
Today a coach will take you to the historical park of Puy du Fou, where history is brought to life in shows of epic proportion. Roman chariot races, high-speed stunt riding and the best falconry display you’re ever likely to see are just some examples. You will also have time to wander through carefully reconstructed historic villages.
A morning excursion to a nearby famous French horse riding school, with a behind-the-scenes visit. In the afternoon there will be a wine tasting on site with a local vineyard owner.
Travel south to the next campsite which is located near Sarlat (230 miles). The campsite lies next to the Dordogne river and the welcoming owners are knowledgeable about the
area. Enjoy a three-course evening meal and drink in the site restaurant.
6 nights at campsite near Sarlat.
A day coach excursion to see some of the highlights of the region. Start with a guided tour of Château de Castelnaud with its magnificent view of the Dordogne. Then on to Les Milandes ,which was the home of Josephine Baker, former Paris showgirl and American civil rights campaigner. After lunch and a drink at Les Milandes there will be a bird of prey show followed by a visit to a walnut mill. Return to the campsite by coach.
A day at leisure to relax and enjoy the surroundings of the campsite or explore the region. The area particularly lends itself to enjoying the sights by canoe.
Overnight at campsite near Sarlat.
This morning a coach will take you to the wonderful hanging gardens of Marqueyssac, famed for their elaborately manicured topiary displays and stunning views over the river valley. This will be followed by a visit of the picture perfect riverside village of La Roque Gageac and its tropical gardens. From there you’ll go on a gentle river cruise on the Dordogne and return to the campsite by lunchtime.
A day coach excursion starting with a guided tour of the beautifully preserved medieval town of Sarlat. There will be free time for lunch (payable locally) in Montignac.Next we visit Lascaux IV caves to see the recreated frescoes from 17,000 years ago. Our final stop of the day will be La Roque St Christophe, which rises to a peak above the Vézère river where cave dwellers lived around 55,000 years ago.
A day at leisure to relax or revisit a favourite place.
Travel to the final campsite in Arès (140 miles). Located on the Arcachon basin, the campsite is on the fringes of the market town of Arès with the main facilities of the town easily reachable on foot. A three-course welcome meal and drink will be served in the evening in the site restaurant.
5 nights at Arès campsite.
Today’s coach excursion takes us from the site to the Arcachon bay for a boat trip to see this area of natural beauty including the fishermen's cabins on stilts and various wildlife. After the boat trip there will be the chance to discover some local cuisine with a three course meal and a drink in a restaurant at Cap Ferret before returning to the campsite.
A day at leisure. There is a wealth of cycle and walking paths to enjoy. The adventurous may like to climb to the top of the highest sand dune in Europe, the Dune du Pilat.
Today, we take a coach to visit a Bordeaux vineyard with a guided tour of the vines and a chance to taste some of the produce over a wonderful three-course lunch. A great opportunity to purchase some Bordeaux wine to take home.
A day at leisure to relax on site or revisit a favourite place. There will be a three-course farewell evening meal and drink at the campsite.
