The kids will love camping out in the forest, Robin Hood style - but trust us, you won’t live like an outlaw. Glamping on Bracelands Camping in the Forest site adds a dash of homely comfort to your rustic adventure.

Hunker down in a spacious family-sized safari tent with two separate bedrooms, comfortable beds, blackout blinds (great for kids and light sleepers), a lounge and sofa area, and even your own mini kitchen. Bit of an upgrade from Robin Hood’s era, wouldn’t you say?

Glamping in Bracelands is all about discovering the great outdoors. Here at Bracelands, the forest is like your own outdoor playground - all 42 square miles of it - perfect for cycling, picnic hikes, pony trekking, and all manners of woodland adventures. A great starting point is the Wye Valley Visitor Centre, which is home to the Jubilee Maze and the exotic Butterfly Zoo (a good option if rain stops play).

Bracelands is a couple of miles from Yat Rock, a well-known viewpoint over the Wye Valley and the starting point for several waymarked trails through the forest (pick up a map from the Log Cabin Cafe). Nearby is The Doward, a range of wooded hills criss-crossed with trails and ancient landmarks, including a hillfort on Little Doward and the mysterious King Arthur’s Cave.

Glamping in Bracelands isn’t all about the forest. After a day of Robin Hood-style tomfoolery, head towards the River Wye and keep your eyes peeled for watersports centres. In addition to canoe or kayak hire, you’ll find plenty of other outdoorsy experiences. Try your hand at archery, go caving inside Symonds Yat Rock, or test your balance on a high and low ropes course.
Just over the Welsh border from the Camping in the Forest site is lovely Monmouth, a little town with a big history. Swing by the crumbling ruins of Monmouth Castle, walk over the gated Monnow Bridge - the only one of its kind remaining in Britain, and take a picnic up to The Kymin, an 18th century round house and naval temple. The views over the valley are well worth the hike.
