Lowry Artist Trail

A frequent summer holiday haunt of the artist Laurence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976), famous for his 'matchstick men' paintings of industrious cityscapes, Berwick-upon-Tweed is an attractive coastal town just 3 miles from the Scottish Border. Visitors can get acquainted with this lovely Northumbrian town by following the 'Lowry Trail', produced by the Tourist Information Centre. Discover Berwick's hidden gems, tour the Elizabethan Walls, walk to Berwick Lighthouse, skirt around the historic church and cross the water into Tweedmouth and Spittal. The Lowry Trail lasts around 3 hours in total.
