Situated in Dunbar, East Lothian, Thorntonloch Beach is an attractive sandy beach with shallow dunes and decent water quality. While the nearest train station to the beach is around five miles away, there are car parking facilities nearby. The nuclear power station in the area is within sight from this beach but nevertheless it is an attractive beach that is regularly cleaned.
The water quality here is good, which means that visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, and windsurfing, but there is no lifeguard onsite.
A few kilometres from the beach you will find Barns Ness, which is a great place for bird watching. The beach itself is around 400 meters long, so you can look forward to some pleasant coastal walks here. While this may not be the right beach for families with children who want more to see and do, it is a pleasant and attractive option for those who simply want to take in the sights and enjoy refreshing walks by the sea.
