Sherwood Pines Forest Park is the largest forest open to the public in the East Midlands.

Things to do

Go Ape Tree Top Adventure is available in the park which is a popular one for active families looking for a day of adventure. The marked Family Trail, Adventure Trail and Kitchener’s Trail are favourites for cyclists with varying difficulty levels. There are countless trails to walk down and explore with the whole family.

Activities for kids

Take a short walk down the marked path to discover Robin Hood’s Hideout, recently declared a top ten natural play spot in England according to the Forestry Commission. Tree houses, rope bridges and scrambling nets- perfect for keeping kids entertained.

Other fun activities to enjoy with the whole family include orienteering, bush craft and fungi walks.

Facilities

There is an on-site café which is open 7 days a week and boasts fantastic views of the forest as well as great food and drinks. Toilets are available in the park, admission is free however there is a small car parking fee.

Please note: the Forest Park is open from 8am until 10pm in summer and 8am to 6pm in the darker winter months.

Directions

Our forest is situated off the B6030 inbetween Clipstone and Ollerton.

Turn in where you see the big green signs and follow the road to the Forest Centre Car Park.
