Terns, guillemots, puffins and more! A bird-lover's and photographer's dream.

Join us for a great package holiday based from our Bellingham site. This very popular package includes:

  • 4 nights camping with electric on a hardstanding or grass pitch (08-12 June);
  • wine reception (eve, 8th June);
  • return journey to Seahouses (9th June), stopping on the way for a 1+1/2 hour break in Alnwick (historical notes provided);
  • boat trip from Seahouses to the Farne Islands and wildlife cruise, landing on Inner Farne.
  • Following day (10th June): Choice of Guided walks around Bellingham in the beautiful North Tyne Valley.

          The day out to Seahouses and the Farne Islands (9th June) is the whole day, leaving at approx. 8.30am, arriving back on site approx. 6.30pm.  We offer a lot in the package, including a break in the journey to Seahouses in historic Alnwick, frequently voted the best place to live in England and home to Alnwick Castle, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Northumberland.  We will provide you with our own guide to Alnwick, with a suggested historical walking route and ideas for tea/coffee stops!  You could also choose to visit Barter Books, one of the largest 2nd hand bookshops in Europe, of ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ fame.

The highlight of the trip is, of course, the wildlife cruise of the Farne Islands, with a landing on Inner Farne. Stars of the show are the nesting puffins, but of course there is a huge variety (and number!) of other seabirds, plus grey seals and, possibly, dolphins, whales. Our boat journey is tailor arranged for good tides (seals on rocks) and for a time of day when most other boats are returning from Inner Farne so you get a quieter spell on the island and, therefore, a closer walk amongst the birds. You will not believe the noise, the smell and how close and personal you can get to many of the nesting birds!

On the following day of your stay (10th June), we take you on a choice of Guided walks from the Bellingham site in the beautiful North Tyne Valley.  The walks are optional but not arduous, the choices comprising walking distances of 1 1/2 miles to 10 miles (with a break in Bellingham itself).

Take a look at our Pre-arrival guide on the Bellingham Site web page, for ideas for activities on your final full day (11th June). If you like walking, the Hareshaw Linn waterfall is hard to beat. Otherwise, visit a stately home, garden, Hadrian's Wall, or Kielder Forest and Water Park.  Northumberland National park is the 2018 winner of the best National Park in Britain from the British Tourism awards - our site is on its doorstep!  Clear skies offer stunning night skies too (we are in a Dark Skies area), so bring some binocular, but be prepared to stay up very late for true darkness!

Notes: The tour requires a minimum of 8 persons booked to be operationally viable at these prices.  If this minimum number is not reached, we will refund any monies spent that cover the tour component of your stay. However, it has managed to run successfully each year since 2014.and sometimes sells out quickly (max number 42 people).

Please note that guests who are not members of the National Trust will need to pay a Landing Fee to the Trust, which is not part of the package price (approx £9.50 per person).

Dogs are not allowed on Inner Farne.

It is possible to accommodate wheelchair users, but there are a considerable number of steps to/from the boat landing stages and the ground on Inner Farne is uneven when off the main paths.
