Join us for a weekend of stargazing on-site within the newest and largest Gold Tier Dark Skies park in Europe.  Weekends include an introductory talk on the Fri night given by the Starmakers Stargazing Events astronomers, night sky observing with the help of the experts and their telescopes, all with free hot drinks and a log-burning stove available in our refuge. Large telescopes will still be on site for the Sat night and further talks given and/or workshops held.

We are holding 2 camps in 2019:

29/30 March:

A weekend of exploring nebula, galaxies and star clusters or simply admiring the Milky Way. The moon rise/set times give us a dark sky to see deep space objects through the scopes.  We plan a telescope workshop on the Sat, early evening, to those who may be interested, and/or potentially a 2nd talk.  Large telescopes are on-site all weekend, with expert astronomers to guide you to deep space objects.

Tickets for Star Camp participation: £9.50 per pitch (1 night), £15.00 per pitch (both nights) - please see ticket notes.

22/23 November 2019: Apollo Star Camp

Our usual, annual, Geminids Star Camp weekend in December coincides with a bright full moon, so we cannot go ahead with the same date. We need the darkest skies for the best view of deep space objects, so this year we need to move the Star Camp to November. The date provides us with a conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, is just after the peak of the Leonids meteor shower (arrive earlier than the weekend if you can!) and is close to the anniversary of the Apollo 12 moon landing - expect a talk on this!.  The date has been chosen, as ever, in consultation with Rob Ince, our fantastic expert lead astronomer.

Tickets  required to participate in November Star Camp: PRICES UNDER REVIEW DUE TO INCREASED EXPENSES. Price is likely to increase to approx £10 PER PERSON for both nights, £7.50 per person for 1 night.  Price TBC after discussion with astronomers. This is still good value compared to astronomy events nationwide!!

NB. Normal bookings for a camping pitch do not entitle the camper to the additional Star Camp ticket. Star Camp Tickets must be requested by phoning the Site direct (01434 220175) and are limited to approx. 25 pitches (50 people places). Note that the events are very popular with several regular attendees. If you do not phone to add a ticket to your booking, it is likely you will not be able to attend!
