This year's Aberystwyth Cycle Festival hits the city streets from 21st to 30th May 2017, bringing with it a packed programme of thrilling races, sportives, on and off-road action, fringe events and famous names.
One of the highlights of the event is the Downhill Biking Race on Saturday 27th May. Aptly billed 'Conquer the Cliff', competitors are whisked to the top of Constitution Hill via Aberystwyth's Funicular railway, before setting off at staged times throughout the afternoon from 1.00pm onwards. The hilltop provides beautiful views over the seafront, but it's unlikely competitors will pay much notice - instead they'll be focusing on roaring down the twisty descent, starting from the Olympic torch beacon site and navigating the coastal path, steep shale banks, wooden bridges and steps, before finally racing onto the promenade and the finish line on Victoria Terrace. Phew!
