Spanning 200 square miles across the heart of England in Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire, the National Forest is a place that fights back against increasing urbanisation. The forest is the UK’s first new forest in 1,000 years and has had nearly 9m trees planted within its borders over the last 28 years by communities and landowners in the forest, increasing its woodland cover to 21 per cent.
If you’ve never been to the National Forest, then a perfect way to experience it at its best is Timber Festival – a unique three-day celebration of the transformative impact of forests, for which we have five family day tickets to give away.
The festival takes place from 5 to 7 July at Feanedock – which is just a mile from Conkers Club Site – and will have a packed programme of events including: a thrilling circus show from The Baron in the Trees, featuring a juggling and aerial stunts performance; an appearance from stand-up comedian and actor Phil Jupitus, who will share his Wilderness Tracks with BBC Radio 4’s Geoff Bird; local singing group The Coal Tits; and live music from Gwenno, Jesca Hoop and You Tell Me.
Timber includes activities and things to do for just about anyone with Maypole dancing, storytelling and poetry recitals, Bollywood dancing, horse logging demonstrations, locally-sourced food and drink, engaging woodland crafts and inspiring health and well-being activities to name just a few of the events going on.
We have five family day tickets (valid for two adults and up to three children), each worth £100, to giveaway for Timber and for your chance to win, just answer the two questions below and complete the competition entry form:
1. How many trees have been planted in the National Forest in the last 28 years?
2. Which Club Site is nearest to the event?
Please note travel to/from the festival, food/drink is not included. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. The competition closes 16 June 2019.
