New senior roles at The Camping and Caravanning Club

 Friday 14 February 2020

Three new director level appointments have been made at The Camping and Caravanning Club that mark the start of an exciting new decade.

The appointments were made by the Club’s new Director General, Sabina Voysey, who took up the position in June last year.

Darren Whittington was appointed to the role of Director of Operations in July 2019 and is responsible for the delivery of products, services and member experience across all areas of the Club including the membership service centre and customer services teams, Club Sites and the overseas travel operations. He joined the organisation in 2007 as Exempted Camping Manager, moving to the role of Membership Services Manager and then Membership Services Director in 2013.

Darren, who gained his Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) in 2018, said: “First and foremost my role is to drive the delivery of exceptional customer service for all of our members. Exceptional customer service has to be threaded through everything we do and I will ensure it is being championed by all at the Club.”

Nathan Goodyear was promoted to the role of Director of Property and Development in July 2019. His role focuses on the campsite portfolio such as identifying, acquiring and building new campsites as well as maintaining and developing existing Club Sites and Certificated Sites, both of which are hugely popular with members. Nathan also joined the Club in 2007, as Property and Development Manager moving to Commercial Development Manager, before taking on the role of Head of Sites Development in 2018. He was awarded his MBA in 2017.

Nathan said: “My job is to ensure the Club has the right style of campsite in the best locations around the UK. Added to that is ensuring those campsites are of the standard our members expect together with providing the right combination of onsite products and services that will ultimately benefit anyone who chooses to camp with us.”

Nicola Simpson joins the Club this month (February 17) having been appointed the Marketing and Insight Director. Sabina said: “I’m delighted to welcome Nicola to the organisation and the Senior Leadership Team. She has a broad background and brings with her a wealth of experience from different sectors and companies including BT, Holland & Barrett and more recently from the garden products industry where she was Marketing Director at Forest Garden Group. Nicola will lead the marketing team and be central to shaping and delivering our strategy going forward.”

Nicola, a keen camper who gained her MBA in 2012, added: “I’m really looking forward to joining the Club, which has such a strong brand and I really love the lifestyle it represents – camping, caravanning, motorhoming and ultimately getting people active in the great outdoors. It’s a really exciting time to join the team.”

Sabina said: “Our new senior leadership team structure puts us in a strong position to address the opportunities and challenges the Club will face over the coming years. I’m delighted to welcome Nicola to the organisation, to join Darren, Nathan and myself in shaping and delivering exceptional campsites, services and experiences for our members.”
