Club confirms new roles for two Senior Managers
Two well-known figures in the outdoor leisure industry have been permanently appointed to new positions following their 12-month secondments.
Rob Ganley has been confirmed as the Club’s Editor-in-Chief while Simon McGrath has been appointed Head of Communications and External Relations. Simon was previously the Club’s Editor-in-Chief while Rob was the Senior Communications Manager and the pair had carried out a role swap for a year.
Rob spent 15 years in magazine publishing including a number of years as Group Editor of the Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome titles in both print and online before joining the Club. As Editor-in-Chief he is responsible for Camping & Caravanning magazine, the Club’s monthly title which is the oldest camping magazine in the world. It has an average monthly circulation to members of 287,835. Rob also heads up the Club’s publications team that includes designers, production staff and the technical helpdesk team, and is also responsible for advertising revenue across Camping & Caravanning’s print and digital platforms.
Simon’s face is also familiar to many in the outdoor leisure industry, having edited Camping & Caravanning for nearly a decade in a career as a journalist that has spanned 30 years. Simon heads up the Communications and Events team, which includes PR, partnerships, events, social media and videography. In addition, he will now take on responsibility for leading on external relations activities by working with the Club’s external stakeholders and regulators such as Government departments.
The Club’s Marketing and Communications Director Paul Jones said: “Having Simon and Rob carry out a job swap secondment has been hugely successful. Both of these senior managers have injected new thoughts and ideas into their teams and I am delighted to make the positions permanent.
“An important part of Rob’s focus is looking at the editorial direction of the Club’s magazine including its growing digital presence and reach, while Simon also now has responsibility for our outward facing relationships with key stakeholders including legislative bodies.”
