Hertford Club Site nominated for Best Place to Lay Your Head award
Hertford Camping and Caravanning Club Site has been shortlisted in the ‘Rest Your Head’ category for the 2017 Hertfordshire Tourism Awards.
The new awards scheme has been set up to reward regional tourism businesses that deliver exceptional standards of customer service and outstanding visitor experiences within Hertfordshire’s tourism industry.
Hertford Club Site is a large 250 pitch site that’s open year round, with a good mix of standard grass and hardstanding pitches available. The site also offers glamping in the form of safari-style tents from Ready Camp, the Club’s own glamping network. The county town of Hertford is within walking distance.
The Camping and Caravanning Club’s Sites Director Bob Hill said: “Hertford Club Site is popular with members and non-members alike and its peaceful location makes it an ideal place to lay your head, whether that’s in a tent, caravan or a motorhome.
“The Site occupies a semi-rural location yet historic Hertford is an easy one mile walk away, with shops and restaurants, plus a good train link to central London.”
The campsite was opened in 1953 as a memorial to Lord Baden Powell, founder of the UK Scout Movement and Club President from 1919 to 1941. Following extensive restoration and development works, the site was reopened in July 1996 by the third Lord Baden Powell, who was also serving Club President, in recognition of his grandfather’s work.
