The Camping and Caravanning Club is celebrating a new Guinness World Record for the most people wearing paper crowns in 24 hours (multiple venues) – setting the standard at a spectacular 14,621 crowns!

The new record, which coincided with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Monday, June 4, was officially verified by Guinness World Records, the global authority in record breaking achievements, this morning.

And the good news continues as the Club logged 4,395 arrivals in one day over the Jubilee Central Weekend - the fourth highest number of arrivals ever recorded on its UK Club Sites.

Over 100 Club and Camping in the Forest Sites took part in the audacious record challenge. An attempt of this nature and scale had never been attempted before in the world.

Annabel Lawday from Guinness World Records said “This is a fantastic new world record with a very high number which will be difficult to beat for years to come. We welcome everyone who successfully took part to the family of Guinness World Record holders!’

All campers are now encouraged to visit the Club’s Facebook page ( to star in their very own World Record video as a memento from the day.

The attempt was run during National Camping and Caravanning Week (June 2 to June 8) which is now into its 12th year and celebrates the nation’s growing love of camping, caravanning and the great outdoors.

Club Director General Robert Louden added: “What a fantastic number! We’d like to thank everyone who took part in and supported the record attempt - we’re delighted to have engaged our campers and it’s a privilege to be named as Guinness World Records Holders.

“As a Club, we will continue to promote National Camping and Caravanning Week and encourage holidaymakers to get out camping and to enjoy our great British countryside.”
