What our CCY members say...
Katie Mordecai joined Camping Club Youth in 2014. This is her story…
I am 17 years old and a member of Oxon DA which is in the Chiltern Region. I have been camping and caravanning most of my life and as a family we joined The Camping and Caravanning Club in 2011.
I joined the Chiltern Region CCY and although this is a small CCY section we have had lots of entertainment and fun.
The year I joined, Chiltern Region hosted the National Youth Rally where I met youth from all over the country and had a fab time. It was great to meet up with some CCY that I had previously met whilst out at meets with my parents.
Since then I have attended rallies with the youth section and last Autumn I passed my Youth Test – of which I am very proud. The CCY is very friendly and full of fun things to do as well as gaining many new life skills and learning all about camping. I really enjoy going out at the weekends, enjoying activities, trying to win a prize or trophy, meeting new people and having lots of fun.
I am so pleased that I joined the CCY and would thoroughly recommend joining to any younger members of The Camping and Caravanning Club.
Heather Carter has been a member since 2012. Here’s what she has to say…
I am 19 years old and live in Livingston, Scotland. I enjoy sports and fitness. I am studying sports coaching at University, take part in Taekwondo and coach it and rugby. I joined the CCY in 2012, at the Noah’s Ark meet in Perth, Scotland. My family originally started with camping in a tent, and then we changed to a caravan.
We met members of Perth and Angus DA, who were holding a rally on a site we were camping on. We were already members of the Club and joined Perth and Angus a few weeks later on our first rally. Since then we have been regularly camping at rallies with them.
Since making friends that first weekend on the Go-kart track at Noah’s Ark, I have attended National Youth Rallies, International Youth Rallies and Autumn Youth Meets across the country, as well as with my local Region and DA (District Association).
I have some of the best memories with these people that will last a life time. Since playing netball at Nationals I found I really enjoy the team sport, so I am looking for a local club to join.
