A new pennon for Tregurrian

There are more than 3,500 pennons in our Club Archive and if you’ve ever wondered how we go about creating a new one, this could be the story for you. It starts just over a year ago, when I enjoyed a short out-of-season break in north Cornwall with my husband Mark, and we popped in to Tregurrian Club Site. I was tempted to buy a site pennon but thought something didn’t look quite right. The small flag sported a surfer riding a wave, as you might expect from a campsite that’s just a field away from the South West Coast Path and 20-minute walk to Watergate Bay. However, the pennon showed a surfer on a board with an impractically blunt end, with the rear of his board buried in the wave in an unrealistic way. My technical-background hackles were raised and I had a word with the Holiday Site Manager Vanessa Wassell about it. She confirmed I wasn’t the first camper to spot this and between us we wondered what would be needed to update the design.
