Forest bathing If you really enjoy spending time in Britain's woodlands, you're probably already half way to participating in the Japanese art of Forest Bathing. If you strive to be healthier this year, but are averse to exercise then Shinrin yoku – the Japanese term for Forest Bathing – could be for you. Forest bathing is soaking up or bathing in the forest atmosphere, drawing on the therapeutic powers of nature. Next time you take a walk through the trees, slow your pace down, inhale the scent of the trees, feel the ground beneath your feet and feel the breeze. This deeper connection to our surroundings – espcially trees – can help reduce blood pressure, lower cortisol levels and imrove memory and concentration levels.
